These Parameters should be Taken into Account in Injection Mold Design

After the mold is manufactured, injection molding is performed, the injection molding machine is used, and the product can be started. However, there are many models of injection molding machines, and each injection molding machine has its parameters. The mold design must meet the requirements of the injection molding machine model provided by the customer; otherwise, it will not be able to produce.

There are many design parameters of the injection molding machine. The following will focus on several parameters related to injection mold design.

1. Shot capacity

The shot capacity is the maximum mass mass value (or volume value) that the injection molding machine can inject at one time during production, which represents the maximum injection capacity of this type of injection molding machine. The amount of melt used in the injection mold design is less than the injection volume of the injection molding machine. Otherwise, the product is dissatisfied and cannot be produced.

2. Clamping force

The clamping force is the pressing force of the injection molding machine on the template when the mold is closed. The clamping force required for the molding of the molded product must be less than the selected injection molding machine; otherwise, the melt will easily run off the parting surface and cause flash.

3. Spacing between tie-bars

There are four tie bars in the dead corners of the fixed die plate and the movable die plate of the injection molding machine, whose function is to ensure that the injection molding machine has sufficient strength and rigidity and is responsible for sliding the template. But it often limits the overall dimensions of the mold. Because the mold is hoisted in from the middle of the tie bars during installation, the mold's overall dimensions cannot be greater than the distance between the tie rods during the injection molding mold design. If one of the mold's length dimensions exceeds the distance between the tie rods, check whether the mold is hoisted into the tie rod workshop by rotating. If the rotary hoisting cannot be carried out, you can only change the mold size or replace the injection molding machine.

4. Nozzle size check

The nozzle head of the injection molding machine is generally spherical. When selecting the sprue sleeve, the spherical radius of the sprue sleeve should be consistent with the nozzle's spherical radius. In order to prevent the high-pressure melt from overflowing from the contact gap between the nozzle and the sprue sleeve, the ball radius of the sprue sleeve should generally be larger than the nozzle ball radius, and the size of the small end of the leading runner should also be slightly larger than the size of the nozzle hole, which makes it easier to align the nozzle with the sprue sleeve.
