What Problems Should Be Paid Attention to in the Injection Molding of Mobile Phone Shell?

The development of mobile phone shell products needs to go through the process of product structure design, mould development and design, injection moulding, production, spraying and printing, etc. Each step will affect the appearance of the mobile phone shell. There are some suggestions given by HANKING MOULD on what problems should be paid attention to in the production of injection molding of the mobile phone shell.


1. The mould design of the mobile phone shell:


The product's sturcture and assembly should be taken into the consideration during mould design of the mobile phone shell. In addition, the depanning and waterway arrangement of the product and the distribution of the glue inlet should also be considered in the production and manufacturing. The following is a brief introduction to the design of the product bars, hooks, nut holes, and so on.


2. The design plan of Rib of the mobile phone shell mould design:


  • When using PC or ABS+PC, the thickness of the Rib should not exceed 0.6 times the thickness of the mobile phone shell itself. The aspect ratio should not exceed 3 to 5 times the thickness of the mobile phone shell itself.

  • The draft angle of the mobile phone shell mould is approximately 0.5-1.0 degrees.

  • The space between the two Ribs is more than 3 times the wall thickness.


3. The design plan of the mobile phone mould hook:、


  • In general, the stuck-in specification of the hook is 0.5mm to 0.8mm.

  • The hook moves down 0.2 mm from the parting surface, which is beneficial for the mould processing of the mobile phone shell.

  • A gap of 0.05mm should be left on the occlusal surface of the hook and its slot in order to easily repair the mould in the future.

  • At the top of the hook slot, a 0.3 mm gap should be reserved at the bottom of the hook to serve as the elastic space for the hook deformation.

  • A gap of 0.1 to 0.2mm should be left for the other mating surfaces.

  • A 6mm to 8mm stroke arrangement should be left on the oblique guidepost of the hook.

  • The hook tip of the 0.1mm arc is for easy disassembly.

  • Two degrees of the draft can be left at the mating surface of the hook, which can be used as a disassembly angle.

  • The end lead fillet at the bottom of the hook slot can improve the compressive strength. Therefore, the inclination angle of the area with different thicknesses can be used as the transition area. 


The production process of mobile phone shell mould injection:


The mobile phone shell is usually made of PC or PC+ABS material. Due to the poor liquidity of PC, high mould temperature and high material temperature are usually used to fill the shell. The pin-point gate is usually used as the gate. Staged injection mould is required for filling, and the gate position, as well as the V-P(injection – holding pressure) switching position, should be well-identified.
