What Is the Principle of Dividing the Processing Stages of Precision Injection Molds?

1. Rough machining of precision injection mold processing


The main task is to remove most of the machining allowance of each machined surface and provide a positioning reference for semi-finish machining. At this stage, try to improve production efficiency.


2. Semi-finishing of precision injection mold processing


The main task is to prepare for the finishing of the main surface of the part and to complete the processing of some secondary surfaces.


3. Precision machining of precision injection mold processing


Remove the machining allowance left by semi-finishing, so that the main surface of each workpiece can reach the dimensional accuracy and roughness required by the pattern.


4: Finishing of precision injection mold processing


Molded parts with roughness Ra value less than or equal to 0.4uu should be finished. Finishing is only used to reduce surface roughness, not to correct shape and position errors.


Reasons for the staged process of precision injection mold processing:


(1) Use processing equipment rationally for precision injection mold and give play to their respective characteristics;


(2) Roughing and finishing are separated, the error generated in roughing can be removed in finishing or semi-finishing;


(3) It is convenient to arrange the heat treatment process, so that the heat treatment process and the cutting process are reasonably matched;


(4) It is convenient to find defects in the blank and protect the processed surface in time.
