What Are the Requirements for Structural Design of Automotive Injection Molds?

What Are the Requirements for Structural Design of Automotive Injection Molds?

1. Wall thickness requirements for automotive injection molded parts

The wall thickness must be uniform, otherwise the shrinkage of the plastic material will cause uneven shrinkage, which will cause the injection molded parts to deform, shrink marks, and flare. Therefore, the structural design cannot be too thick or too thin.

2. Draft angle of automotive injection mold

The draft angle of automotive injection mold directly affects the ease of taking out the product from the mold cavity. It is also related to the performance of the compound, the shrinkage rate of the plastic material, and the structure of the automotive injection molded parts.

3. Reinforcing rib

It is commonly used in automobile structural design. It can change the direction of material flow to make the flow more balanced, improve the binding ability of rubber molecules and make the stress distribution uniform, as well as increase the strength of injection molded parts.

4. Fillet

It is a factor that must be considered in the design of automotive injection mold. Fillet can avoid stress concentration, increase the strength of injection molded parts, and improve the flow of molten plastic to facilitate demolding.

In addition, the design of the cooling circulation system of the auto parts mold is a relatively complicated task. Not only the cooling effect and cooling uniformity must be considered, but also the influence of the cooling system on the overall structure of the auto parts mold and the specific location and specifications of the cooling system Is determined, so there are the following requirements:

(1) Through the analysis of mold processing technology and injection molding technology, the service life of auto parts molds is guaranteed to be more than one million times.

(2) It is also necessary to design a complete auto parts mold structure and processing parts, and put forward assembly requirements and injection molding process requirements.

(3) It is necessary to analyze and investigate the appearance quality defects of plastic parts or the structural problems of auto parts molds (such as parting surface setting, gate setting, inability to guarantee mold life and so on).

(4) The appearance of auto parts molds requires that the appearance of molds of auto parts must be free of rust, bumps, and defects.
